
Vinesh Phogat has filed two appeals – first one for participating in Thursday’s final and another one to get joint silver medal.
Vinesh Phogat had the entire nation in a state of anticipation for what could have been country’s first gold in wrestling. But 100gms took away the joy of 1.40 billion Indians.
A day after her disqualification, Vinesh bid farewell to her international wrestling career, and subsequently she filed an appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport, challenging her disqualification from the medal event.
It is now confirmed that Vinesh’s appeal has been accepted by the CAS and the court’s hearing will be taking place today.
Two appeals were filed by Vinesh – one for participating in Thursday’s wrestling final while the second one was to get the joint-silver medal. While her first appeal was rejected, the CAS accepted her second request
The famous lawyer Harish Salve is representing Vinesh in front of the CAS. The hearing will take place of Firday at 1.30 PM (IST) and Mr Salve would be joining virtually.
The nation would be waiting with bated breath for the outcome of the appeal
