Sheikh Hasina Lands in Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, All Train Operation to Bangladesh Suspended.

Sheikh Hasina who has left Bangladesh has landed in Ghaziabad , but it is not clear that whether Delhi will be her final destination or will be head for London or to the US where her son Sajeeb Wazed stays. She is said to have flown in a Bangladesh military aircraft with her sister, reports said

Bangladesh PM resigned today and left the country following more than a month of anti-government protests that led to deaths of more than 300 people. Army has taken control of the government and Army Chief General Waker-Us- Zaman said that an interim government would be formed soon. Sheikh Hasina who has been ruling Bangladesh since 2009 won her fourth consecutive term this January amidst boycott of the opposition parties.

Bangladesh witnessed chaotic scenes since morning that culminated in the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. Large crowds were seen waving flags, and dancing on top of a tank in the streets before hundreds broke through the gates of Ms Hasina’a official residence. The public anger was such that they also smashed statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s independence hero.

The country’s military had earlier supported Sheikh Hasina’s government through the unrest that began last month against civil services jobs. The protests escalated into wider calls for her to stand down.

The demonstrations were about the reintroduction pf a quota scheme that reserved 30 % of all government jobs for the kith and kiln of Bangladesh freedom fighters.

Her touchdown in Delhi was on expected lines as Delhi has always supported her. She enjoys a great rapport with the Indian Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and has not shied away in acknowledging India’s role in Bangladesh’s progress.

The government of India has asked the BSF to be on high alert and has asked its citizen to avoid travelling to Bangladesh.

There is growing concern that Hindus living in Bangladesh may face repercussions due to the prevailing anti-India sentiments in the country
