Maharastra Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis vs Owaisi political clash has reached a new low when Fadnavis at an election rally on Tuesday, asked Owaisi to refrain from coming to Maharashtra. Criticizing Aurangzeb, Fadnavis called him an invader and accused Owaisi and his party of glorifying him. He remarked that a true Muslim in the country would never admire Aurangzeb and used some strong language against the sixth Mughal emperor who ruled from 1658 till his death in 1707.
Mr Fadnavis stated that even a dog would not urinate on Aurangzeb’s identity. He further said that a true Muslim in India does not see Aurangzeb as its role model. In a recent video shared by news agency IANS, Fadnavis is heard saying, “Lately, Owaisi has started coming here (Maharashtra). My friend from Hyderabad, stay there—you don’t need to come here; this isn’t your place. I don’t understand what’s going on with him coming here and making threats.”
This latest jab from Mr Fadnavis is seen as a reply to Mr Owaisi’s targeting of Fadnavis over his ‘vote jihad’ remarks, claiming that the BJP leader’s ideological ancestors wrote ‘love letters’ to the Britishers instead of fighting against them during the freedom movement.
Many political pundits are however calling this as just an eyewash. It is often alleged that Mr Owasis’s party helps BJP behind closed doors to divide Muslim votes. The assembly election in Maharashtra is scheduled for 20th November.
