Today, the Supreme Court questioned whether the apology published by Patanjali Ayurved in newspapers was as prominent as its full-page product advertisements. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Patanjali founders Ramdev and Balkrishna, mentioned that they have submitted new apologies to the court. The judges questioned why the apologies were submitted just the day before and suggested they should have been filed earlier. Mr. Rohatgi explained that the apology was published in 67 newspapers, costing ₹10 lakh. Justice Hima Kohli inquired about the prominence of the apology, asking if it was in the same font and size as their previous advertisements. When Mr. Rohatgi mentioned the significant expenditure, the court responded, “We’re not concerned about that.” The court mentioned that it received an application requesting a ₹1000 crore fine against the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for its case against Patanjali. The bench expressed suspicion, asking if it was a proxy plea. Mr. Rohatgi emphasized that his clients were not involved in it. The Supreme Court decided to postpone the issue for a week after Ramdev stated that he would publish a more extensive apology in newspapers.
