Animation Professional Nishant Tripathi Commits Suicide: Blames Wife and Aunt

A 41 year old Animation Professional Nishant Tripathi committed suicide at a hotel in Mumbai last Friday due to the alleged harassment by his wife and aunt.

Mumbai: A 41-year-old man, identified as Nishant Tripathi, tragically ended his life at Mumbai’s Sahara Hotel. In his last message which was uploaded on his company’s website Mr Tripathi addressed his mother, sister and brother before mentioning his wife. He accused his wife Apoorva Parikh, and her aunt Prarthana Mishra for his ordeal. Mr Tripathi who hailed from Virar region, had been reportedly facing harassment from his wife and her aunt.

He checked into the hotel three days earlier and had allegedly put up a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign before hanging himself. The hotel staff grew suspicious due to lack of any activity, and they entered his room using a master key and found him dead and they later informed the police.

A Final Letter to His Wife: “Hi Babe…By the time you read this, I’ll be gone. in my last moments, I could’ve hated you for everything that happened, but I don’t. For this moment, I choose love. I loved you then. I love you now. And as I had promised, it’s not going to fade (sic),” read Tripathi’s last note for his wife.

“My mother knows that among all the other struggles I faced, you and Prarthana Mausi are also responsible for my death. So, I beg you, don’t approach her now. She’s broken enough. Let her grieve in peace,” the note further added.

It has also emerged that this was Apoorva Parikh’s second marriage and things were not going well between her and Nishant when tragedy struck.

Poice said they have opened a probe and filed a case under section 108 of the BNS against Apoorva Parikh and her aunt Prarthana Mishra for abetment to suicide based on a complaint by the victim’s mother Neelam Chaturvedi, a women’s rights activist. No one has been arrested yet.

This incident has emerged amid growing calls for gender-neutral laws, especially after several suicide cases linked to alleged harassment by wives’ and their families have stirred public debate.
