Congress Spokesperson Shama Mohamed has body shamed Rohit Sharma and called him fat. She not only called him fat but also questioned his batting and captaincy credentials. When a Pakistan-based sports journalist defended Rohit Sharma, calling him a “mighty effective and world-class performer,” Congress leader Shama Mohamed shot back, questioning his stature. She argued, “What is so world-class about him compared to legends like Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid, Kohli, Kapil Dev and Dhoni? He is just a mediocre player and captain who got lucky to lead Team India

Not wanting to let go this opportunity BJP hit back at the Congress and asked whether Congress now wants Rahul Gandhi to play Cricket. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari strongly criticized Congress after Shama Mohamed’s remarks on Rohit Sharma, saying, “Shame on Congress! Now they are targeting the Indian Cricket Captain. Do they now want Rahul Gandhi to play Cricket after failing in politics?”
Speaking to reporters, Bhandari went further, calling the comment a reflection of Congress’s “Emergency mindset.” He added, “This is an insult to every patriot who stands by Team India through thick and thin. I question the Congress’s criticism.” He also said that ahead of the crucial semi final clash against Australia it would demoralise the Indian Captain.
Congress realising the potential damage the comments of Ms Mohamed might cause quickly came into damage control mode. The party distanced itself from Ms Mohamed’s post. The chairman of the party’s publicity department Pawan Khera said that she had been asked to delete the social media posts. Khera emphasized that the Congress respects and values India’s sporting legends and does not support any statements that diminish their contributions.
Ms Mohamed’s comment came amid discussions on Sharma’s performance as India’s captain.
